C’est une immersion sensorielle dans la vie de danseurs\, musiciens et artistes avides de célébrités\, confrontés à une répression qui fait face à leurs opinions et mode de vie peu orthodoxes en pleine République Dominicaine. LA 42 dévoile une contre-culture alternative dans le paysage urbain dominicain\, qui s’étend et se déploie sur les 600 mètres d’une rue étonnante et remplie d’histoires. On croise dans ce quartier des figures importantes et des leaders charismatiques : l’incontournable et très actif Demetal\, ou Natasha et Maco et leur approche plus radicale\, on rencontre des rappeurs\, des street-artistes\, des producteurs de musique. Sur cette contre-culture conçue pour secouer l’establishment\, le film apporte un regard sans concession et dévoile un univers rarement mis en lumière. Il va à l’encontre des nombreux a priori sur la jeunesse des quartiers. Car les habitants de la 42 font preuve de courage non pas avec leurs poings\, mais avec la musique\, la danse et l’expression. Leur art est brut\, urgent et profondément humain. En apprenant à connaître ses habitants on comprend mieux leurs motivations\, leurs luttes\, leurs faiblesses et surtout\, leur talent. Confrontée chaque jour à une dure réalité sociale\, qui comprend non seulement des épreuves\, mais aussi des abus de pouvoir\, en particulier de la part de la police\, la jeunesse de la 42 devient un exemple de résilience\, où l’art est à la fois survie et révolution.
